Make Me Over With The Body Shop® - Bronzer

August 6th, 2008 admin Posted in Beauty | 1 Comment »

After so many pulling, urging and bribing with everything that is nice, Serena finally agreed to become our next The Body Shop makeover model.

And as you can see, the problem is acutely obvious:

A picture says a thousand word, no? *no worries girl.. I have the same problem too.. sigh~*

Serena is a slim girl with a cute chubby face. So with The Body Shop new Sun Lustre Bronzer, we’re gonna look at how we can make her cheek look slimmer ;)

***************************************************************************************************************

This is Serena after The Body Shop in-house make up artist, Beverley applied a face base and also some eye make up on her.

*Please note that for this post, we’re not gonna show all detailed photos coz u’ve seen that few times ;)*

For eye make up details, here’s the break down on what Beverley applied on her eyes:

*****************************************************************************************

For Serena’s eyes, Beverley began by applying The Body Shop Eye Colour 13: Vanilla Cream (RM32) as the base for the Eye Shadow and then Eye Shimmer 02: Gold (RM35) and Eye Colour 08: Golden paprika to add shimmer to the eyes.

Beverley then use the darker shade from Eyebrow Kit 02 (RM48) to define Serena’s eye crease. The Body Shop’s Eye Colour 39: Soft Black were applied on the corners of the eyes to add intensity to the eye area.
Liquid Eyeliner 01: Black (RM42) was then used to define Serena’s eyes before applying The Body Shop Waterproof Mascara 01: Black (RM39.90) to enhance the eye area before using the Brow & Liner Kit 02: Brunette to define Serena’s eyebrows.

*****************************************************************************************

Now pay attention peeps.. coz here is what you gotta do to make those puffy chubby cheek look slimmer.

For a slimmer cheek effect, I am proud to introduce:

The Body Shop Sun Lustre Bronzer

For a sun-kissed and slimmer look, Beverley applied The Body Shop Sun Lustre Bronzer 01 (RM89) on Serena’s cheeks.

Bronzer is a great staple for any beauty bag and looks best when applied lightly to all the spots where the sun naturally shines (the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin).

The Body Shop Sun Lustre Bronzer is a luxurious light diffusing, moisture-enriched powder which is embossed and over sprayed with a beautiful floral motif and fragranced with “bronzed camomile” - a deliciously summery scent! Contains moisturizing Community Trade marula oil and calming, soothing Community Trade camomile oil. It is available in two glowing shades and also perfect for sensitive skin!

Now here’s the tip…

  • Dab the brush into the color and tap it on the back of your hand in order to remove any excess.
  • Next, apply the bronzer paying attention to your cheekbones, chin, nose and around the eyes.
  • Using a circular motion, start powder application on the cheek apple and brush down lightly; applying bronzer to each side of the nose and under the lower lip.
  • For best results, apply to the face, cheeks or décolletage with The Body Shop Face & Body Brush (RM68).

Here are some other helpful tips that you might want to keep in mind:

  • Keep your foundation to a minimum if you wear bronzer on your face, otherwise your complexion may look too orange.
  • Remember: if you apply the bronzer unevenly you can make your skin appear “dirty“.
  • Always make sure your blend well into skin or you risk looking like a clown. If you use a powder bronzer apply it with a big, round brush.
  • Always apply the bronzer on areas where the sun usually hits.
  • When using a bronzer keep your makeup as simple and as natural as possible.
  • The bronzer should be a few shades darker than your skin tone. Orange tones and too dark shades may look unnatural on you.

For a finishing touch, Beverley applied Sheer Lip Lustre 02 (RM45) from The Body Shop Summer Trend 2008 followed by Lip Bloom 01 (RM48) from The Body Shop Spring Trend 2008 to give Serena a luster pouty lips.

And the result?

A CUTE SLIMMER FACE SERENA!!! Pheweeeeet~

Now with that new glowy look on her, Serena is all set and ready to hit the beach!

Let’s go Serena XD *pulls Serena out*

KK BOX - The largest family concept buffet-karaoke

July 29th, 2008 admin Posted in Food!, GoLife! Blogs it!, Party & Hangout! | 1 Comment »

The Sabahans love their Karaoke alright. No doubt about that. My family loves to karaoke. My friends love to karaoke. Almost everybody loves to karaoke and yet… most of them are shy. (This* is true).

Plus, my family would never encourage me to go to unsafe-looking karaoke lounge especially those rowdy places that has cigarette smoke all over until it stings your eyes.

When I celebrated my birthday last December in KK Box, right before its official opening on January 2008, both my family and I fell in love with it. It’s both family-oriented and also a healthy place for people to share their passion for entertainment with family and friends!

Located in Kompleks Karamunsing, KK box, the largest family concept buffet-karaoke is a project under Total Passion Sdn Bhd and it is the first of its kind in Sabah the Land below the wind.

KK Box Staff

With the spacious floor covering 12,000 sq ft in total, KK Box is also a great venue for family bonding sessions especially for get together, reunions and celebrations! To hype it all up, they also have 39 units including VIP rooms featuring themes such as Sports theme e.g. Football Mad, GolferMania and Fast and Furious; The glamour theme e.g. Red Carpet of Hollywood and not forgetting the Nature theme e.g. Escape from Sipadan & Mount Kinabalu.

Their biggest room can accommodate up to 40 person and the smallest one can fit about 6 person. For convenience, many of the larger rooms are also equipped with a private washroom.

Oh! Did I forget to say that at KK Box, everybody sings like a professional?

Yeap! Aside from the large projector screen equipped in each room, KK Box is also equipped with a super-duper state-of the-art technology and an improved modern digital sound processor that automatically adjusts to your own voice range. How cool is that?!

Even Julian’s voice sounds better than mine!

With this kind of technology, I bet William Hung will sound great!

*ok… I’m just kidding*

Be whatever race you are, you will have no problem finding your favourite song in KK Box ;) With over 40,000 songs in their song bank, all KK Box customers will have a wide selection of languages such as English, Malay, Chinese, Kadazan Dusun, Indonesian, Tagalog, Indian, Hindustan, Japanese, Korean and even Spanish and Russian latest hit songs!

The “All-you-can-eat buffet dinner” is priced at RM38++ per person and you will get to enjoy their over 60 varieties of food which consists of Chinese, Malay, Indian, Western and Japanese cuisine. *I loooove topping up their salmon sushi and ice cream …yummm!*

At the same time, you will also get to enjoy two drinks (choose either beer OR soft drinks) which comes together with a complimentary usage of KK Box Karaoke rooms.

You see… One of my favourite package in KK Box would definitely be their Set Lunch package. During my Friday lunch from 11am-2pm, my family (or sometimes.. with colleague) and I will spend our 3-hours precious time singing our heart out in KK box. It’s affordable (costs ONLY RM10++) AND you get to sing for free!

For only RM10++ per person (consists of soup, a main course, one drink and 3 hours usage of the karaoke room) the value that you paid for KK Box Set Lunch package is equivalent to eating fast food + no happy time karaoke. Now that is what I call a real value-for-money treat ;)

Below are the other packages offered by KK Box.

KK Box is also catering for other private events and functions such as:

• Birthday/Anniversary/Farewell/Staff/Achievement/Year End Party
• Annual Dinner
• High Tea
• Trainings/Meetings
• Karaoke Contest
• Product/Album Launching
• Singing/Talent Auditions
• Fan Club sessions

And their opening hours are:

  • Monday to Thursday – 11am to 1am
  • Friday to Sunday – 11am to 2am

(Including eve of Public Holiday and Public Holiday itself)

  • Lunch Time - 11.00 am to 2.00 pm
  • Dinner Time - 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm

KK Box is truly an enjoyable and chic place for everybody, ideally with your families, friends, business associates or simply making acquaintances giving you a memorable dining and karaoke experience which lasts a lifetime.

1 Borneo Rainforest

July 24th, 2008 admin Posted in Events, Party & Hangout! | 2 Comments »

Hola pretty peeps! I just got back from Kuching - Rainforest World Music Festival and as you’ve known, it is held yearly in Sarawak Cultural Village. *It was great… no doubt… and I will definitely fly back to witness next year’s festival*

BUT instead of waiting for next year to fly all the way to our neighboring state, you can now visit our very own indoor rainforest in Sabah *YES.. indoor* The 1 Borneo Rainforest!

No more smelly insect repellent. No more worries about the hot sun and pouring rain. No more figuring out how to use the compass and getting lost in the jungle. No more screaming and clutching on to your friends when crossing a suspension bridge and convinced you were going to fall to your death into the rushing currents below. No more being afraid of the dark… and offending ancient forest spirits.. *gulp*

Rina: Fara… don’t be silly
Fara: I had a bad experience okay~

AND* it’s air conditioned. Wheeeee~

On the 10th July 2008, The GoShop/GoLife team were invited to the opening ceremony/cocktail party of the 1Borneo Rainforest.

Initially, It looked kinda small from the outside…

Other than mingling around during the event, Julian, Marissa and I also had our mini escapade inside.

From ‘Jambatan Tamparuli’ adventure:

To Indiana Jones Adventure:

To Romeo and Juliet scene:

… what?

It was fun.. okaaaaay~

Oh! There was also a cultural show during the cocktail party too! …and as usual, Marissa and I tried running away to avoid being caught and forced to suffer embarrassing moments on stage.

But this time… we were… pretty unlucky.

Just look at this! I was just chit chatting with Marissa, when suddenly, out of nowhere, *pak* a hand grabbed Marissa’s wrist!

“Haaaah~~~ I’m glad it wasn’t me….

*or so I thought*

Till I got dragged right after……..

TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We also met Chris, the PR & Communications Manager of Sagajuta and Jonathan, the Chief Editor of the prominent Breeze Magazine.

With the RM10 ticket that you bought at the entrance, YOU will be able to redeem souvenirs inside worth of admission fee. Meaning, with the RM10 worth of ticket, you can use it to buy/redeem souvenirs, food, activities and etc inside just like a coupon! It’s all about ‘Fressh’!

July 18th, 2008 admin Posted in Food! | 1 Comment »

Remember my post on Fressh before?
Yeah! I’m talking about THE* FRESSH Café, at City Mall.
After my almost every day visit to this café, I’ve come to decide that I should* pay Michelle and Byron a visit (the owner behind this yummy-licious and brilliant health cafe) and get to know them more in person.

Sooooo… here is the warm couple, Michelle & Byron.

Our GoLife team was greeted warmly by them and no sooner it was started, the couple prepared a lot… I mean.. really* a lot of drinks and dishes for us.

*checking tummy compartment*

Uh! How la we’re gonna finish all this?

So many choices… We don’t know which one to choose!

Food after f… nope.. in this case.. drinks after drinks were served one by one and we were… overwhelmed by their generosity.

Thanks Michelle… Thanks Byron..

Fyi, Byron was so enthusiastic that he kept saying, “You want anything else?” “Eat it while it’s hot”“You want anything else?”

We had* to show him the ‘white flag’ for him to stop from serving anymore food and drinks. Haha!

For a head start, let me give you a preview of one of my favourite… the ice cream!

Colourful huh?

This* is the Fressh Ice Cream.
You have the choice of Vanilla Ice Cream OR Yoghurt Ice Cream and mix it with 3 different fruits/toppings/mixes of your own.

So I* would recommend this:

Vanilla Ice Cream + Oreo + Chocolate Chip + Banana

Or..

Yoghurt Ice Cream + Mango + Banana + Peach

The verdict?

You’ll feel.. heavenly fresh!

You can also try their YoFruit (Fresh Yoghurt + Fruit).

It’s low fat, less sugar and enriched with live cultures. You can view my post on the best YoFruit combination that you can try HERE. Truly yummy and mouth-watering!

One of the most sought after drink that they always receive from the customers would be the Chocolate Banana which is available in both hot and cold. Loved it!

If you want a quick breakfast to provide an instant boost to your morning, you can also try their Muesli Banana OR try their Fressh Wrap (the tortilla wrap is fully imported from Australia) and Fressh Sandwich!

For thirst quenching drinks or snacks, you can also try Fressh Health Orange Juice, which is one of customers’ favourite pick. This baby contains no added sugar nor water. It’s 100% pure orange juice!

Or, you can also get your hands on Fressh’s 3 most popular smoothies; Mango Marvel, Brilliant Banana and also Blueberry Bliss (The fresh blueberries are imported from Australia too!).

As you can see, “The Fressh Café” is an Australian Brand.
It was first opened in September 2006 at Kompleks Karamunsing, and after an overwhelming support and demand from their consumers; they decided to open up a second branch at City Mall, in November 2007 last year, which is now, my favourite hang out place after a tiring workout at the gym.

One thing that you can be proud of Fressh is that they are the* only one in Malaysia so far, and best of all… it is only available in Sabah. How cool is that?

Their ingredients used in their servings are also very fresh, especially their yogurt, which is freshly made out of live-cultures instead of using powder-base types (powders can contain some chemical which is not good for you) ; and mind you… unlike other juice bar that would just recycle days-old fruits, Fressh waiter/waitresses will never fail to inform you about their food conditions. Plus, they are not stingy to add little extra toppings as well ;)

And you know what? Even our very own “I fell in love with the DJ~” Che’nelle, the uprising international artist as well as Daniel, winner of the 2nd music reality tv show, The Malaysian Idol loves coming to Fressh as well.

Freshh provides free Wi-Fi connections and is open for service everyday from 11.30 a.m. until 10.30 p.m. And If you have been to Fressh, I’m sure you’ll agree that the interior was cute and excellent too!

Oh! Good news for all you food lovers out there, Fressh is coming out soon with a “Fressh” Pizza, Spaghetti and Salad Bar in the near future! Yeyyyyy!

So..~ no more excuse for starving yourself to death. Choose a healthy lifestyle today; get replenished and kick your day of with a healthy snack only at FRESSH!
