After a stress filled day, sometimes the best thing to do is to watch or listen to something happy & funny… THAT, or you just look for a comedian & entertain you…

One of my favourite Malaysian Comedian has got to be Harith Iskander!

I remember watching shows like “Jangan Ketawa” in 1991 where he made his 1st debut & later took notice of his other funny gimmick like in “Ah-Ha“, “Sepet“, “Gubra” & his very own “Thursday Night Live“!

Wouldn’t it be great if we can get these comedians down & entertain us??? Well here is the GREAT NEWS! And remember, you heard it from LIFEBUZZ ~~~~ *drums roll*~~~

After 15 years on stage performing hundreds of shows and entertaining thousands of people, Harith Iskander is finally taking his uniquely Malaysian brand of stand-up comedy on a Nationwide Tour.

Covering 5 major cities across West and East Malaysia, Kota Kinabalu, Miri, Kuching, Penang and Kuala Lumpur. This will be the best opportunity for the public to catch the man who is often acknowledged as ‘Malaysia’s Premier Stand Up Comedian’ live on stage.

Anyone who has attended his shows will know that Harith’s observational comedy covers topics as wide ranging as everything from ‘how Malaysians drive” to ‘why women are more intelligent than men‘.

On this tour, Harith will not only be featuring a whole range on new material in his routine but will also be pulling some classic favourites out of his comedy bag.

Junior Chamber International (JCI) INTAN will be organising a JCI INTAN Adventure Challenge 2008 to all JCI’s members and the public of aged 16 years and above on the 03rd August 2008 (Sunday) at the KK Adventure Park in Beringgis, Papar from 8.30am onwards.

JCI Intan Adventure Challenge 2008 activities will consist of treasure hunt, team building mix telematch and adventure activities such as wall climbing, flying fox & kayaking that will be happening on that day. The objectives of the challenge are to promote a team building / team work among the participants in the team, to exercise one’s mind on problem solving and to promote a healthy lifestyle on outdoor activities.

If May is considered the month of culture & a celebration of our Sabahan roots (with the Kaamatan & Sabah Fest), then June is surely the month of music & arts!

SPARKS ( Society of Performing Arts Kota Kinabalu Sabah ) has been hosting a number of dance & musical events through out the month of June ( see “The Yellow River Cantata” & “I too can be a Star” Ballet). But their biggest & most well know feat is to organise the KK Jazz Festival!

On the 21st of June 2008, I got the chance to watch the 2nd KK Jazz Festival which was held at 1Borneo!

I’ve been to the 1st KK Jazz Festival (click here to read 1st KK Jazz Festival) & was surprised when the organisers announced that they will hold the event this time in 1Borneo. Although many would have prefered the event to be hold out door once more like last year, this was actually a BLESSING IN DISGUISE as we experienced heavy rain on the day of the event (The rain was terrible during those couple of weeks & Im mighty glad I didnt have to enjoy jazz under the rain! :D)

This year the KK Jazz Festival featured 4 local & 4 International performance. The 4 international performers includes:

Cheong Xion Gi, a guitarist / composer & arranger.

Xion Gi cites Brazillian music as his major influence. Xion Gi’s soft spoken nature & friendly approach had a calming effects on the crowd. Xion Gi played a few easy listening music & it was the right tone for a chill out moment.

By the way, Xion Gi brought a friend along with him on stage & he used a vase as a musical instrument! I was surprised at 1st but later found it amusing! XD

The next guy that came on stage was Paul Ponnudorai. Being able to play the guitar is one thing, being able to sing is another; Paul had both in his disposal!

Paul had a voice that could be describe as sexy (I still remember my camera lady Fara being swayed by his voice)…

Fara: “Ooooh! So Sexy oh his voice!!!”

Me: (o_o) … … …

Well I wont deny it, Paul does have a really great voice & his skill with the guitar was amazing. My personal favourite was when he sang the old famous Beatles song: Hard Day’s Night!

Back when I was a kid, I always though people that could play the saxophone were charming. I guess I wasnt wrong, here’s a charming man behind a charming instrument: Mr. Greg Lyons.

Greg Lyons is considered a real veteran in the music scene, having done many albums with other great artist like: Billy Cobham, Phil Perry, Wang Lee Hom & even our local songstress Sheila Majid & Datuk Siti Nurhaliza.

But the group that I want to spend a lil more time talking about, is the Aseana Percussion Unit!

One of Malaysia’s “Contemporary Jazz World Fusion Group” (wow pretty long explanation), they started their gig by getting the crowd up their feet & blew the event off with really exciting beats & songs!

The group consist of 12 multi-instrumentalists & combined traditional instruments of various culture together!!! The night was filled with energy, as the crowd got to their feet & started jiggy with it!

This is without a doubt a fun filled event!!! I for one cant wait now for the 3rd KK Jazz Festival! For more of the KK Jazz Festival do watch GoShop TV here for the sight & sound of the event!!!

KAC ELECTRONIC SPORTS 2008: DOTA TOURNAMENT!!!

Good News! Kompleks Asia City (KAC) E-Sports DotA Tourney 2008 is coming this month! This event, organised by KAC Management, along with Co-organiser SabahGamers, will run for 2 days (26-27 July) at the KAC Atrium located on Ground Floor of KAC Shopping Mall. This will be Sabah’s first DotA tournament to be held in such a venue (a shopping mall), so it should be an exciting experience for all the local gamers and also to the local public. Game publishers such as Cubizone, gameflier and MyRosso will be present during this 2-day event to exhibit their latest online game besides running lucky draw events and giving out freebies to public. Also attending the exhibition including SMM, MOL, Hyperay, Digital Wise, AV Future Link (AVF) along with SteelSeries (our latest Gaming Gear product). All are invited to attend this 2-day event and hopefully it will be a great experience for both gamers and the local public. See you there.!!!
