OKTOGON products can be recharged using the cable supplied and connect the cable to a power source. The Micro-USB charging port is located on the side of the products. The red indicator light shows that the product is being charged, and the green indicator light appears when it is fully charged.
OKTOGON products can last up to 2 weeks on a single charge, based on a daily cycle of 2 times a day and 3 minutes each time. A flashing red light indicates that the battery is running low.
There are many installation options and, in general OKTOGON products can be installed anywhere for appropriate sanitizing. Research indicates that OKTOGON products are particularly beneficial when spaced and installed in a concealed environment setting, it is typically installed in wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, toy boxes, shoeboxes, car trunks, storage areas etc.
We use LED technology for our UV-C lights and white lights. The devices are mercury-free & ozone friendly.
UV-C is a short-wave ultraviolet light with a wavelength between 100-280 nanometers. It is naturally emitted from the sun and blocked by the earth’s atmosphere.
We are exposed to parts of the UV spectrum while outdoors. Generally, excessive UV exposure can progressively lead to adverse effects depending on wavelength, type, duration, and UV sensitivity which differs between individuals. There are three basic wavelengths of UV:
UV-C - ranges from 100-280nm and includes the germicidal wavelengths of 200-280nm, which is commonly used for air and water disinfection.
Over exposure to UV-C causes temporary skin redness and harsh eye irritation and a slight risk of skin cancer, or cataracts.
UV-B - ranges from 280-315nm and composes 5% or less of UV radiation at ground level. Prolonged exposure has been associated with skin cancer, skin aging, and cataracts (clouding of the lens of the eye).
UV-A - ranges from 315-400nm and composes around 95% of UV radiation at ground level. It helps to tan our skin and is used in medicine to treat certain skin disorders. It is generally a harmless wavelength.
UV-A, UV-B and UV-C will damage collagen fibers and accelerate skin aging. Generally, UV-A is least harmful; UV-B and UV-C can contribute to sunburn, DNA damage and cancer. However, UV-B and UV-C wavelengths do not penetrate deeply and our products ensure that UV lights turn off when movement is detected, effectively limiting exposure to UV light.
Microorganisms contain nucleic acids (DNA and RNA), that readily absorb the UV-C wavelength, causing photo-disassociation (destruction) of the nucleic acid. Nucleic acid contains the genetic information to create proteins for cellular function. The subsequent loss of genetic instructions due to UV-C exposure causes cell death and/or the inability to replicate, rendering them harmless. Continuous exposure causes uninterrupted degradation of microorganisms, similar to the effect under sunlight, but at a significantly higher speed.
Yes, reliable sources scientific journals and anecdotal references support the efficacy of UV-C both in literature and in reports of field applications. The list of prestigious field studies are too numerous to mention. UV-C has a long history, being used in 1910 for water disinfection and is used worldwide. Much of this broader use is for the disinfection of drinking water, air purification in hospitals and treatment of sewage in wastewater treatment.
When the products are switched to UV-C AUTO mode, the white LEDs will automatically turn on when the sensor detects movement until the sensor cannot detect movement after which it will turn off after 15 seconds. Subsequently, the UV lights will turn on for 2 minutes for disinfection then enter sleep mode automatically to conserve energy until the sensor detects movement again and the above process repeats. Ideally UV-C auto mode should be s elected for sanitizing enclosed storage spaces at home, office or at school, etc.
UV light does kill insects; in fact, it is commonly used in quarantine labs to keep dangerous insects from potentially escaping into the environment.
UV light is very effective at killing mold.
Since the light penetrates the mold cells and damages the nucleic acids directly, the mold cells will die off after a period of an hour or two eventually.
The reflection rate of UV radiation is low on, and hence shadowed areas always require a longer cycle time to reach the same level of disinfection, as an area in a direct line and on the same distance from the light source. Any object which is between the light source and target, it will block away from the UV-C, resulting in shadowed areas. Conversely, to some degree, UV light can reflect surfaces to reach even to the backside of objects. This capacity is to reflect its' high dependence on the material of the surfaces. For example, organic material will absorb the penetration and block reflection of UV-C. Therefore, surfaces should clean manually to remove natural substances before decontamination.
In fact, UV-C radiation does not have sufficient energy to penetrate the outermost (dead) layer of the skin
Since the UV-C radiation does not penetrate the skin, there will be no harm to the body or baby. Regardless of the time, you were exposed to the UV-C light. As a public health message, other types of UV radiation (UV-A and UV-B) are considered hazardous, and one should minimize the amount of time of exposure. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), UV-A radiation is associated with skin cancers
To summarize, UV-C rays or radiation is produced by the sun and by particular kinds of lightbulbs. UV-C radiation from lightbulbs is used to sterilize surfaces and air. However, it cannot penetrate the dead layer of skin that lines the surface of the body. Since the radiation cannot penetrate the body, there is no effect of the UV-C light on an unborn baby.
Devices are portable and support handheld mode. UV-C LED lights will turn on when the device is facing the ground. A built-in gyroscope switches the UV-C LED lights off when the device faces upwards. You can hold devices at the battery end to slowly hover over different surfaces to eradicate most germs within seconds. Do not expose UV-C lights directly to your skin, eyes or any part of your body. Handheld mode is excellent for sanitizing large surfaces, especially during travelling, on public transport or hotel rooms.
The wavelength of our UV LED is 200-270nm and our UV-C LED is low consumption as its output is only 20mW. The recommended exposure time of the UV-C is varied from 3 seconds to 3 minutes and the exposure distance between the UV LED and virus & bacteria is 3cm to 50cm. The result showed that germicidal effects for 99.9% of virus, germs and bacteria. The disinfection levels depend on external physical environment, the size and contours of the space in which the devices are installed.
